This buttt pad is easy to install, but first let it sit out in the sunshine for about 3-5 days, this will get rid of the overwelming smell of new tires. But it does help add LOP for which Mosins are lacking. As for recoil reduction, you may need to drill out the holes in the rear (Have not done it ). Watch out not to hit the butt screw.
